Lula Miller, Master Herbalist

Lula Miller, master herbalist, is the owner of Whole-Hearted Apothecary LLC. As an educational herbalist and public speaker, Lula specializes in teaching others ways to safely, effectively, and affordably support their health at home using herbs.

She has a B.S. degree from Kansas State University and has had local training at the Wildwood Institute in Verona, WI, where she also worked as the head gardener for the school’s organic herb gardens and later as a teaching assistant. Lula has been studying and practicing folk herbalism since 2007, when she experienced the resurgence of a mystery illness, later diagnosed as Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. She soon began helping herself, friends, and family manage various health complaints with herbs. Lula sold homegrown herbal coffees and teas at farmers markets for several years under the name Lula Linden and later launched Whole-Hearted Apothecary LLC in 2022.

Her professional areas of interest include bioregional herbalism; herbal pain management; herbalism for auto-immune conditions; and historical herbalism.

Originally from Chicago followed by Los Angeles, Lula now lives in New Glarus, WI, with her husband, two children, dog, and chickens. Most of the herbs used in Whole-Hearted Apothecary products are lovingly grown spray-free in her gardens here in the village or ethically wild-crafted locally.

When not lecturing, gardening, or preparing herbal medicine, Lula enjoys drinking tea; sewing (formerly, she worked as a fashion designer and stylist!); hiking; crocheting; going to the beach; and homeschooling her daughters.
